Dark, your goal is to get others to think outside their comfort zone.
Absolutely. It's what I wrote, yes?
If others here can do the same for me, all the better
i want to take this opportunity to start a thread inspired the poster dark side.. sometimes people come across on here as mean spirited or hopelessly grumpy.
and it's obvious when you read their posts that they are good people and really just need some soothing healing love.
so please, use this thread to spread some soothing, healing love to anyone, especially the social porcupines.

Dark, I see a hard shell with soft serve underneath.
You weren't supposed to see that. It's off limits

Nobody plays guitar like Knopfler
maybe because i was in so long, and "studied" so much it just got tiresome.
maybe because i no longer believe in god i can't be bothered with any of the things i was forced to "learn.
" having read comments of bona fide atheists, they sometimes seem to know more about the bible than christians.. does anyone else just have a lack of desire to try to understand those more complicated parts of the bible?.
The Bible is like a guitar: you can make it play any tune you want.
Well said

Dark Side, all of us have a dark side. And I think I have the same goal as you do, encouraging out of the box thinking. Sometimes I am more tactful and nice about it. Sometimes I am in a more punchy mood and I can be pissy and rub people the wrong way. You may not see it (maybe you do), but I see some anger in you. Just the phrase "shut the f*&k up" alone reveals some anger. I have anger. Not a bad thing when handled right. It's hard for me to always handle mine right. I saw a report at the doctors office on doctors office CNN that men who are angry have more heart attacks and strokes. So yeah, learning to deal with it might help you live healthier and longer.
Thank you for your concern, FHN. I know that sounds a little trite, but I mean it. However, I'm fine.
There are a few things that truly piss me off. Stupidity, apathy, hypocrisy and a lack of personal responsibility are at the top of the list. So, when I encounter those things on the board, I happily point them out.
it's just my personality to go the fade route, but i can't handle it anymore.
i lost respect for myself.
i won't write a da letter out of respect for family.
Why can't you just understand it's not that easy for a lot of us to just give the finger to our family, friends and decades of indoctrination and expectations. In my case, a century of tradition.
You've got it backwards. When you leave, your family and friends give the finger to you
i know this happened in 1993...but i was reminded of it a few days ago.
if you have time to sit through this documentary you should.
i know i always thought the branch davidians pulled a heavens gate and killed themselves instead of being taken.
No, we won't, but we do know that they were very willing to kill and, at least for those in power in the group, die.
How do you know what happened at Jonestown?
Yeah, I was too easy on them, wasn't I?
Were you? Maybe they were forced. Maybe they were willing.
Personally, I think they were weak-minded and good riddance to idiots.
Survival of the fittest is what has kept the human race strong up until the past 300 years. Too many people who can't or won't think...who can't or won't take care of themselves...dilute the human species. Weaklings are kept alive in the name of "humanity"
That's a fact.

The government should have just hunkered down and waited them out
But they didn't
Even IF the FBI had tried to wait them out, it's likely it would have ended badly anyway
We'll never know now, will we?
They were in a scumbag cult that makes Jehovah's Witnesses look like Unitarian choir ministers.
